The SEAS technology can be used to develop corporate strategy, evaluate a strategy, train employees and managers, and develop leadership skills among senior and mid-level executives and managers.

It can also be used to evaluate distribution channels, product packaging, and incentives to consumers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Simulex?

Simulex, Inc. provides the next generation of consulting services to our customers using the Synthetic Environment for Analysis and Simulation (SEAS). What is SEAS?

SEAS stands for Synthetic Environments for Analysis and Simulations. It is a military style war-gaming environment for business and economic situations. SEAS was developed at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management. Simulex, Inc. has an exclusive license from Purdue University to market the SEAS technology.

More information on SEAS can be found in our Technology section.

What do you mean, “Experience the Future”?

Business war-gaming starts in the present and plays into the future. It considers “what-if” scenarios impacted simultaneously by technological innovations, political and regulatory changes, business and economic decisions, and the evolution of consumer preferences due to social and competitive forces. By playing through those possible alternative scenarios, participants experience the future of the strategies as well as the results. By interacting in these different scenarios, the participants are able to construct accurate and robust strategies.

What kind of knowledge is SEAS built upon?

SEAS incorporates the latest discoveries from economics, computer science, and management. We use published research from nearly all functional areas of business and include specialized modules in the areas of production, marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, management information systems, and economics. In addition, when appropriate, sophisticated models of human behavior are used to calibrate the artificial agents who populate the synthetic economy. Finally, the human players are provided with sophisticated tools for analysis and visualization.

How can I get the software?

The SEAS software environment is quite involved. This complexity omits generality, so the software is customized for each user and application. It brings a wide variety of tools and techniques together to work in a seamless manner. Some of the technologies and techniques used are agent-based, object-oriented programming for the economic processor.

To find out more about getting the software for your organization, please contact us.

How much of our time will you need?

In addition to the training time, we will need to work with you to customize the details of our Virtual Game Board (VGB). Once the game board has been assembled and calibrated using actual data, the final customized training materials can be developed. The entire process typically takes six to twelve weeks, but the exact amount of time will depend on the project.

How can you advise us on our own strategies?

Simulex simply helps extract and organize the knowledge already possessed by a firm's executives, in a very realistic and fast-paced setting. Participants bring their own unique perspective to the game. By interacting with the variables in the “real world”, users are able to see the results immediately. Our “After Action Review” sessions allow users to effectively integrate the outcomes of the simulation(s). It allows participants to create a history of the future, for optimized implementation, thereby saving time and money.

How difficult will it be to integrate SEAS in our current environment?

We will design and develop customized SEAS modules to accurately integrate within your existing procedures and protocols.
